Overview

Do you want to learn the skills needed for a successful career in engineering? If so, we’re currently looking for a trainee/apprentice Production Engineer and a trainee/apprentice Mechanical Engineer. Based at HPS head office in Nottingham, UK, you will gain practical experience of a broad range of engineering activities, from the initial design process, production and manufacturing, right through to implementation, maintenance and product support.

As part of your apprenticeship, we will also support you with formal training at an appropriate college, ensuring you gain a recognised qualification at the same time as practical experience.

Note that after an initial induction period you may need to travel to and from customer’s sites (UK and overseas), and stay away from home as necessary.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

You will have at least five GCSEs grade C to A*, including Maths and English Language. In addition, a GCSE grade C to A* in Science, or a BTEC Level 2 or Extended Diploma in Engineering or other equivalent qualification will be an advantage.

You will be able to demonstrate the potential to achieve an NVQ Level 2 and have sufficient knowledge and ability to undertake training to gain Key Skills and a suitable Technical Certificate.

This is an entry-level position suitable for individuals with a keen interest in engineering, a strong work ethic, good design, analytical and mathematical skills, and above all the drive to learn and develop within our business. You must have a ‘can do’, flexible attitude, excellent time keeping and commitment to the role, and put the needs of HPS and its customers first at all times during your working hours.
