If pigs are used until they are visibly worn or no longer functioning properly, fluid or gases may begin to bypass the pig during operation.
This can reduce product recovery performance and may increase the risk of product dilution, contamination or inefficient pipeline clearance. In some cases, a worn or damaged pig may also become held up in the pipeline, causing unnecessary downtime.
