What Process Pigs Do
The term pigging refers to the process of propelling a flexible projectile, known as a pig, through a product-transfer pipeline. Because the pig is slightly larger than the internal pipe diameter, it forms a seal against the pipe wall and pushes the product towards its destination, leaving very little residue behind.
HPS pigs contain a magnetic silicone core, enabling reliable pig detection, automation and system control.
High-Quality, Long-Lasting Pigs
HPS manufactures process pigs in a range of sizes from 1.5 to 8 inches in diameter. All HPS pigs are bi-directional, providing greater flexibility in pigging system design and supporting efficient operation.
Their robust silicone construction provides a long working life, allowing them to be used repeatedly before replacement is required. HPS hygienic pigs can withstand CIP temperatures of up to 250°C and are manufactured from materials that meet the requirements of FDA 21 CFR 177.2600.

Magnetised for Reliable Pig Detection
HPS Hygienic Pigs are magnetic but do not contain solid magnets. Instead, the internal core is manufactured from flexible magnetised silicone.
This enables the pig to be detected through the pipe wall using an HPS AccuTect Pig Detector, without any part of the detector coming into contact with the product.
Flexible Through 90-Degree Bends
The flexible design of HPS Hygienic Pigs enables them to travel reliably through standard 1.5D 90-degree bends while maintaining effective contact with the internal pipe wall.
