HOW PAINT MANUFACTURERS CAN OVERCOME RAW MATERIAL PRICE HIKES

In first place for the second year running, our most-read article of 2024 focuses on the paint industry as they continue to tackle the rising costs of raw materials.

Written in 2021, when the paint industry was facing significant disruptions due to raw material availability and price hikes, this article provides insights into how manufacturers can use HPS Advanced Liquid Product Recovery (Pigging) Technology to improve their operations.

Read the full article to find out how paint manufacturers are improving their efficiency, productivity, profitability, and competitiveness in the face of continuing price hikes.

How to Clean a Chocolate Transfer Pipe Using Product Recovery Pigging

Rising five places from 7th place in 2023, this article provides insights for manufacturers of chocolate products on how pigging technology provides effective and efficient pipeline cleaning.

In an industry where flushing is an expensive and time-consuming process, hygienic pigging systems reduce the time spent on cleaning and improve production outputs. With a 99.5% product recovery rate, HPS pigging systems are crucial for companies looking for innovative ways to boost their productivity without compromising on product quality.

How to Prevent Aeration During Liquid Processing

Our third most popular article of 2024, this blog provides valuable information for manufacturers of liquid products that pose a significant chance of foaming during processing.

Foaming within pipelines can result in significant downtime as operators have to wait for the product to settle before continuing production or, in the worst-case scenario, dispose of the product entirely.

This article covers how HPS double-pig pigging systems are an effective method of reducing the risk of aeration by creating a seal as well as recovering product from pipelines.

How to Reduce Clean-In-Place (CIP) and Downtime in Liquid Processing

Dropping two places, this article explains how pigging technology is used by manufacturers to reduce production downtime. An essential part of manufacturing, clean-in-place (CIP) processes can be lengthy.

However, by reclaiming product from pipelines prior to CIP, companies save product, money, and time, as well as ensuring thorough disinfection before the next batch of product is processed.

There are multiple other advantages of pigging before cleaning, which are also covered within this article.

Facing Challenges in the Chocolate and Confectionery Industry

Dropping from 2nd place, this popular article once again ranks highly. There are numerous challenges facing the chocolate and confectionery industry, including government regulation, competitive pressures, and raw material price inflation.

These challenges have sometimes resulted in the phenomenon known as ‘shrinkflation’ – the cost of a chocolate bar stays the same or goes up, but the size goes down, resulting in consumer dissatisfaction.

Shrinkflation also effects other products, not just chocolate.

Pigging technology offers a way for chocolate and confectionery manufacturers to mitigate these costs and keep consumer satisfaction high by recovering liquid product from pipelines, ready for further processing, packaging, and sale.

HPS Highlights of 2024

Edale Skyline Challenge

The number one highlight of the year for HPS must be the Edale Skyline Challenge. The 20-mile route was walked by a team of HPS employees on Friday 13th September to raise money for local charity, Improving Lives Notts.
