FoodTech Bringing Together Queensland’s Food and Beverage Manufacturing Industry
FoodTech Queensland took place on the 28th to 30th July 2019. It opened its doors to attendees seeking the latest in ingredients, plant equipment, and food and beverage processing technologies from over 130 exhibitors.
The exhibition, which is held every three years at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre in Australia, had more than 2400 visitors across the three-day event. It was originally launched in 2016 to support the growing food and beverage manufacturing industry in the northern state. The 2016 event was a huge success – and the 2019 event proved to be even more successful!
The Event Itself
This year, FoodTech Qld hosted several workshops and seminars focusing on everything from sustainability, health, and safety to food and beverage trends.
The event also featured expert speakers who provided valuable insight into key topics affecting the food and beverage industry. Topics that were covered included food processing technologies, digitization and food innovation. Sustainability, waste management and keeping a clean, green image were also the key focus of the exhibition.
From product recovery (pigging) systems to weighing equipment and packaging automation, exhibitors showcased the latest processing machinery, ingredients, packaging, ingredients and ancillary products.

HPS Australasia (HPSA) exhibited our hygienic product recovery and liquid transfer solutions at the event. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that dropped by the HPSA stand at G43. There was a massive amount of interest in waste reduction, water savings and environmental benefits of sanitary pigging. It was also great to catch up with friends old and new.
HPSA were on hand, answering a wide variety of questions and offering insights into how our solutions can transform liquid processing operations. They gave demonstrations on the principles of pigging and the wide variety of benefits it delivers. They also discussed how to get your product recovery project underway, and the information we need to provide an accurate quotation.
Those visiting the HPSA stand were particularly interested in the HPSA pipeline pig. The unique design of the pig means it achieves extremely high recovery rates of up to 99.5%. HPS pigs are the benchmark of the process pigging industry and are unmatched in performance, durability, and reliability. They contain no solid magnets, which minimises risks of shattering, fragmentation and subsequent product contamination.
Wide Range of Visitors
HPSA pigging system experts had the opportunity to talk to a wide range of people from many different industries. Some visitors had not even heard of pigging, so it was great educating them on the technology. However, most visitors to the HPSA stand ranged from those looking for new ways to improve their processing operations to organisations who were interested in adding to or extending existing pigging systems.
HPS work in a wide range of industries with a wide range of products. These include paints, coatings, solvents, foods, confectionery, chocolate, beverages, household, homecare, and personal care products, pet foods and many others. So, of course, the HPSA stand included a selection of sample products. These ranged from soft drinks to wine, shampoo to body wash, and sauces to confectionery.
The HPSA stand also had a single-pig demo pigging system, which included the pipework, receive and launch station, pig housing, various valves, supports and fitting, and the pig detection system. Many visitors were especially interested in seeing a “real life” pigging system demonstration.
